Mama never told me the worst pain
would come from my own family
for me to bare.
It took a long time for me to learn that lesson,
but now, I am oh, so aware.
But after the initial shock wears off,
and I get up and dust off my clothes;
I can handle any rejection that comes
I just toss it in my pile of woes.
You may ask me the obvious question,
“How do I feel about all the rain?
The answer is God is still lifting me
from the torment,
and in the end, I won’t be the same.
So, let the rain pour down on me,
just like buckets on my head;
because someday they’ll see,
my light still shining;
God-endured,
just like I said!
Just one more thing
to let you know,
this is no “woe is me” story.
I am strong like the ox
and as long as I’m here,
I’ll be bouncing from glory to glory!
