Somewhere is Boko Haram, Nigeria
She lies awake at three, the night sky hovering, like the morning’s lustful zest, and afternoon tortures, by wicked hands; full of innocent blood and swollen breasts. She weeps quietly so as not to disturb the others sprawled out atop the leaves, her pleas to God, stinging her scratched cheeks, she fixes her gaze beyond the trees. ‘How long will we suffer, body and soul?’ She begs God for An All-Knowing Reply, ‘Will we slowly die here, with nothing to look at but the changing day and night sky?’ But when God delivers His Answer it comes with awe and great surprise, for deep within, she sees His unveil; lying helpless, a vision rocks her crying eyes. She sees some get up on their feet. Persecutors amazed by what it all means, and some passing into great peace and joy; before evil eyes, such unbelievable scenes. Then this young woman stands upon trembling feet before the others to share God’s loving gaze; a few having just joyfully passed, while others slowly stand, utterly bewildered and amazed. God heard His daughter’s prayer and told her we all need to trust Him, even in the worst trauma and pain; for He will either take us through or else remove us from the sting of bitter rain. ***Boko Haram, Nigeria reportedly has the highest number of cases of Christian persecution. “For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain.” (Philippians 1:21) “Remember the word that I said to you, ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they kept My word, they will keep yours also.” (John 15:20) NKJV
